A Rotaract Club is a service organization sponsored by local Rotary Clubs, designed for young adults aged 18 and older. The primary objective is to provide opportunities for youth to address the physical and social needs of their communities, promote better relations between all people worldwide, and develop professional leadership capabilities.
As a prominent non-profit organization, Rotaract operates under the umbrella of Rotary International. Every club is self-governing and self-financing, allowing members to develop hands-on budgeting, management, and leadership skills through active event organization and project execution.
The Global History of Rotaract: How It Started
The rich history of Rotaract dates back to the late 1960s. Recognizing the immense potential and drive of youth, Rotary International officially established the Rotaract program in 1968.
The first-ever Rotaract Club was chartered on March 13, 1968, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Charlotte. Since then, the movement has experienced exponential growth, evolving from a simple program into a massive global network.
